Questions & Answers
Once you have a prescription from an optometric test, our qualified optician will help you choose a new prescription frame or sunglasses, and will also advise you on the different types of lenses. For your convenience, the prices of our glasses are PACKAGED and include: prescription frame, prescription lenses, fabrication, case and microfiber cloth.
Then, the optician will carefully take the necessary measures to ensure that the lenses will be installed correctly. Taking the measures takes a few minutes and is done with specialized equipment. Accurate centering of the prescription lenses is key to your comfort and good vision.
The optician can now send the glasses, along with your prescription and measurements, to our workshop, where they will fit your lenses. We will set a date for you when the glasses will be ready and you can come to collect them. This usually takes 1 to 5 working days, but if your lenses are custom-made and made especially for you, the time frame is around 10 working days.
When you receive your glasses, you will have the opportunity to try them on to make sure you feel comfortable and see well. The optician will explain how to care for your glasses and inform you about free services and discounts that you can use in the future.

Here are some of the features you should look for when choosing a children's frame:
1. Sturdy construction
This means no glass or cord frames (frames that don't have a metal or plastic part around the lenses) and no thin metal frames. They will break.
2. Flexible hinges
The hinge is the part where the arms connect to the front of the glasses.
Kids bend their glasses in ways that even a yogi would envy. A spring-loaded hinge would help in these cases. It allows the arms to bend more than a vertical position.
3. Glasses made of TRIVEX or 1.6 materials
This is beyond the topic of this article, but the importance of healthy glasses for children cannot be underestimated.
Only one thing is important when choosing a frame for seniors: its weight! The skin of seniors is much thinner than that of others. This often leads to deep red spots where the nose pads rest on the nose. Choose a frame made of titanium or microcrystalline polymer (Swissflex) or simply contact our optician for advice.
It is recommended for most people to have an eye exam every 2 years. During this time, your vision may change. For specific eye conditions, your doctor or optometrist will recommend more frequent exams.
If you follow these rules, you can significantly extend the life of your glasses:
- Do not dry clean optical lenses
- Use specialized cleaning agents or lukewarm water and soap
- Do not clean with organic solvents, window cleaners, washing powder - they will damage the protective coatings of your glasses
- Keep glasses away from hairspray and other hair products
- Do not clean with rough cloths. Use microfiber cloths or disposable wipes
- Do not press the glasses when cleaning to avoid scratching the coatings
- Protect the glasses from impact, scratching and high temperature
- Do not leave the glasses on the dashboard of the car, where the temperature is very high and damages the organic glass
- Only remove your glasses forward with both hands and do not leave them lying on the lenses
After an examination, your optometrist or eye doctor will give you a prescription. It will list the diopters that will make you feel most comfortable and see best.
What do the words and numbers on the prescription mean?
SPH (Sphere) - if there is a "+" sign in this field, then you are farsighted and have difficulty seeing clearly at close distances. If the sign is "-", then you are nearsighted and will have difficulty seeing at a distance without glasses. The number can be very small, for example "+0.25", or very large "+7.00". The higher the number, the stronger the lenses should be. In some cases, this can also affect your choice of frame.
CYL (Cylinder) - this means that you have astigmatism, which is caused by an irregular shape of the cornea. If there is no number written in this field, you do not have astigmatism and your eye is perfectly spherical, like a soccer ball. Higher numbers, such as "-3.00", mean that your eye is quite oval in shape.
AXIS - this is the direction of the astigmatism, measured in degrees. This number does not affect the quality of your vision, but is needed for the correct manufacture of glasses in the workshop.
ADD - if you are over 40 years old, you may have a number written in this field. It indicates the additional correction needed for viewing at close distances. If the ADD field is filled in, then you need different diopters for near and far distances. It is recommended to wear "progressive" or "bifocal" glasses.
PD - this is the exact distance in millimeters from the center of one of your pupils to the center of the other. This distance is used when fitting lenses because it determines where their optical center should be placed.
